The 3rd International Yellow River Forum (IYRF) on Sustainable Water Resources Management and Delta Ecosystem Rehabilitation & River Basin Modeling and Computer Simulation will be held on October 16~19, 2007 in Dongying City, Shandong Province of China.

How to arrive in Dongying City

1. You can travel to Dongying City by air from Beijing or Shanghai (Hongqiao) airport.
2. You can also reach Dongying City via Jinan City from Beijing or Shanghai.
In order to help you participate in the Forum, the reception desk will be arranged at Dongying airport, Jinan Airport and Jinan Railway Station repectively on Oct. 15th (from 8:00 to 21:00). Brief Introduction of Dongying City

Dongying City¡¯s territory is from 36'55" to 38'15" north latitude and from 118'05" to 119'15" east longitude. It is located in the center of the area encircled by the Shandong Peninsula and Liaodong Pininsula. To its southeast is the opening city of Yantai and Qingdao, to its north is Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan Economic Zone; to its northeast, the City looks Dalian City across the Bohai Sea, and the city radiates the broad mainland to its south and west.Dongying City is the central city in the Yellow River Delta which is formed in modern times when the Yellow River flowing into sea .

 Transportation:

1. Dongying-Beijing: 50 minutes by air, 5.5 hours¡¯ drive by highway, 4 hours¡¯ drive by expressway.

2. Dongying-Jinan (the capital of Shandong Province) International Airport: 1.5 hours¡¯ drive.

3. Dongying-Qingdao International Airport: 2.5 hours¡¯ drive.

4. There are direct trains from Dongying to Nanjing ( the capital of Jiangsu Province), Zibo and Jinan, which joins to the national railway network.

5. Dongying harbor is state-level class-one open port. So far, there are 2 docks with handling capacity of 5,000 tons each and 3 others with handling capacity of 3000 tons each. Docks with handling capacity over 10,000 tons are now under construction.

6. The whole road mileage of Dongying City is about 4,790 kilometres, 304 kilometres of them is expressway. The density of the road is 60 kilometres per hundred square metre.

Tourism

Dongying city is the place where the Yellow River enters the sea, the seat of the second largest oil filed in our country-Shengli oil field, and also the central city on the Yellow River Delta.

The city is rich in unique tourism resources. Its north part is the simple and unsophisticated, strange and interesting natural scenery represented by the Yellow River mouth, including wetland, grassland and beach etc. Its center is big oil industrial district and modern grouping city. Its south is historical human scenery and modern agricultural scenery represented by the Old Qi culture. From south to north, in just 100 km long distance, one will return from flourishing cities to nature and from the old land of Qi kingdom to the youngest land in the country.
